[S T U D I O p o r n]: Pioneer HDJ-2000

Random visit to Guitar Center. Came out with these.

Pioneer HDJ-2000
Retail: $350

I purchased the Pioneer HDJ-1000’s a while back, and it was one of the best purchases I’ve ever made. I got my $$$ worth out of those bad boy’s. Unfortunately, it broke at the hinge and had to be replaced. Considering how durable and dependable the 1000’s were, I could not go wrong with the 2000’s. When I bought the 2000’s, I wasn’t expecting much because the 1000’s were already on point! How are you going to make a great product better??? Man……..they made the damn product better!!! The HDJ-2000’s are SOLID!!! More durable. Better comfort. Detachable cord. Retractable ear cups. Mono/Stereo switch. Excellent sound. I am amazed right now. About to hit up the turntables, so here are some pics:

Boo-Over 2011

I HAD to snap a pic with my buddy Samuel, the ostrich! I spent Halloween this year at the Cabana Club in Hollywood. I don’t normally do the whole costume thing, but I figured why not go for the experience! The Do Over season was really good this year, so the Boo-Over was a natural decision. As expected, the venue was packed with all kinds of characters (costume was mandatory). You can check the characters that were in attendance here:

“My City” by Blak Laz (Prod. by JQ Lamaj and AL Rocc One)

The single for Blak Laz’s Tha Madman Memoirs is here!!! For the past year Blak Laz, JQ Lamaj, and I have been working diligently to bring you quality music. The album is set to be released on September 11, 2011. I must say, it truly has been an experience. This is the first project that I am producing and I’ve learned a lot of things along the way that will definitely help me in the future. I feel like my knowledge and experience as a producer is growing rapidly. I’m definitely not where I want to be as a producer, however, the journey getting there has been fun so far. One major thing that this project has taught me is to stop talking, and start doing. I know it sounds cliche, but it has never made that much sense to me like it does now. Nike’s slogan “Just Do It” makes so much sense! I’ve noticed a flaw most people have is that they do not have the courage to start/execute an idea because of the potential failure that is waiting, or not knowing what to do. Either that, or they’re just lazy. I engraved it in my head that failing is inevitable. It is going to happen! The Lakers lose a few games in the season and post-season, but they come out victorious at the end. I’m mad this past NBA season they didn’t, but I digress. The point is, they are going to come in this season and TRY again. A person that talks about doing something, and doesn’t try, has already given up. When I started this project, I didn’t know where, or how far, it would go. I just knew that I wanted to produce an album and put out quality music. Since then, we’ve recored dozens of songs, had photoshoots, videoshoots, been in a legit studio to get the album mix and mastered, met a few well known people along the way, and more. All that stemmed from trying. So, stop talking all that jive and start doing!!! Adjust along the way, and learn on the fly! With that, I’ll leave you the download link to the single of Tha Madman Memoirs. Later days…

Ps. Music Video coming very soon!

Beats, Rhymes, and Life…

Contrary to popular belief, Car-mageddon was a blessing. The freeways were wide open, which made it a breeze to get from one side of town to another! On Saturday, I went to go see “Beats, Rhymes, and Life” at the Arclight in Hollywood. This was a documentary, by Michael Rapaport, about one of the most influential Hip Hop groups of all time. It was about Q-Tip, Ali Shaheed, Phife, and Jarobi, otherwise known as, A Tribe Called Quest. The documentary was very informative and well organized. Michael Rapaport did a great job of showing all aspects of the group. From how the group first met each other, to the formation of Quest, to the success and differences in the group. Everything was covered, and all members from ATCQ was able to share their point of view, which is what I really appreciated. Nothing about the documentary was dull, or one-sided. For everyone that appreciates music, I strongly recommend watching “Beats, Rhymes, and Life”. The Arclight slightly charges more than a regular theater, but the experience is pretty cool. When you buy your tickets from the electronic kiosk, you’re able to pick an assigned seat. They sell alcohol in the theater. Also, before the movie starts, an employee personally introduces the film, which adds to the intimate setting of the Arclight. Anyways, go see the documentary! I guarantee its worth the $13.50. Here’s a few pics:
