Do You Like It Raw?

My woman and I got our sushi chef on last night! On the menu: Salmon and Avocado rolls, and Volcano rolls. They came out bomb as hell, and we stuffed our faces with more than we should have. With that being said, we topped it off with a sake bomb, then a food coma. Well, let’s be honest…I had the food coma. #JudgeMe

Opening for Chrisette Michele…

Rotated the wheels of steel at the Key Club in Los Angeles this weekend, opening for Chrisette Michele! I played some music for the crowd, and I DJ’d in a band for Ajay. The night was filled with teeth shattering coldness, late performances, standing for 6 hours, Serato crashing, chaos in-between sets, meeting new folks, abusing an all access pass, seeing talented people perform, phone battery dying, and a totally sober night. I had so much fun! Unfortunately, I forgot my camera, so I only got to snap a couple of picks from the mobile…of course the battery died before the end of the night so I couldn’t snap a pic with Chrisette Michele. That’s some honey boo boo. It’s all good though. There will be more to come this year!

Later days foo!!!

“My City” by Blak Laz (Prod. by JQ Lamaj and AL Rocc One)

The single for Blak Laz’s Tha Madman Memoirs is here!!! For the past year Blak Laz, JQ Lamaj, and I have been working diligently to bring you quality music. The album is set to be released on September 11, 2011. I must say, it truly has been an experience. This is the first project that I am producing and I’ve learned a lot of things along the way that will definitely help me in the future. I feel like my knowledge and experience as a producer is growing rapidly. I’m definitely not where I want to be as a producer, however, the journey getting there has been fun so far. One major thing that this project has taught me is to stop talking, and start doing. I know it sounds cliche, but it has never made that much sense to me like it does now. Nike’s slogan “Just Do It” makes so much sense! I’ve noticed a flaw most people have is that they do not have the courage to start/execute an idea because of the potential failure that is waiting, or not knowing what to do. Either that, or they’re just lazy. I engraved it in my head that failing is inevitable. It is going to happen! The Lakers lose a few games in the season and post-season, but they come out victorious at the end. I’m mad this past NBA season they didn’t, but I digress. The point is, they are going to come in this season and TRY again. A person that talks about doing something, and doesn’t try, has already given up. When I started this project, I didn’t know where, or how far, it would go. I just knew that I wanted to produce an album and put out quality music. Since then, we’ve recored dozens of songs, had photoshoots, videoshoots, been in a legit studio to get the album mix and mastered, met a few well known people along the way, and more. All that stemmed from trying. So, stop talking all that jive and start doing!!! Adjust along the way, and learn on the fly! With that, I’ll leave you the download link to the single of Tha Madman Memoirs. Later days…

Ps. Music Video coming very soon!

Behind the Scenes of “My City”

Aside from getting super sunburned this past Holiday weekend, the music video for Blak Laz’s “My City” was finally shot! June gloom was gone and the sun was shining bright. It was a beautiful weekend in Long Beach, California. “My City” is a song Blak Laz wrote to speak about where he was born and raised, and how it has affected him. It’s definitely a song you need to bump in the whip, while you drive with the windows down (no a/c, it feels better that way!). It is guaranteed to keep your head noddin! As soon as the chorus hits, I know ya’ll will be hooked! This single is from Blak Laz’s debut album, Tha Madman Memoirs. This track was produced by JQ Lamaj and myself. The video was directed, shot, and edited by the super talented Erin G. Wesley. Please be on the look out for the single that will be dropping soon. Of course, the visual will come right behind it. In the meantime, here are a few pics from the shoot. Stay thirsty my friends!

Mission Objective: Do Over @ the Cabana Club (06.05.11)

Since my girlfriend and I didn’t get into the Do Over last week (Memorial Day Weekend), which was our fault for coming late on a 3-day weekend, we wanted a do over (no pun intended). We decided to try again this past weekend. Luckily, the Do Over moved from El Cid to the Cabana Club which meant more space!!! We got there around 2:30pm via the train. Like we thought, it was the easiest process to get in because the Cabana Club could accommodate more people. Needless to say, the Do Over was filled with people, sangria stains, and good vibes!

Hopping on the Greenline.

Waiting for the train.
Transfer to the Blueline.
Transfer to the Redline.
Walking to our destination.
Sunset & Ivar.
We’re in!
Ohmega Watts on the tables.
People.
And more people.
Going home. Notice the drastic weather change.
Pit stop for some of the best pizza I’ve ever tasted in L.A.
Blurred Vision courtesy of Sangria.

New track produced by yours truly!

Good Times, Bad Times

Blak Laz recorded “Good Times, Bad Times” last Friday in the studio with JQ Lamaj and I. The song is AMAZING! It’s a track that makes you want to reflect on all the ups and downs that you’ve been through. It’s a song of motivation, to keep pushing. It makes you want to appreciate all aspects of life, whether it’s good or bad, because what’s a good time if you don’t know what pain feels like?
